About

Angela Carbonetti has been exploring her creative side since she was handed an Agfa Billy-Clack at Age 7.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, she has lived in Boston, Palm Beach, Los Angeles, New York and Charleston and currently resides in Baltimore with her husband, writer/director Bryan Elsom.

“My initial reaction is always about the atmosphere and how I feel within the space .. then I push the envelope and my settings to take me beyond what I see.”

Early influences include the works of Tina Modotti, Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, Federico Fellini, Elliott Erwitt, William Eggleston, Berenice Abbott, and Margaret Bourke-White. A 25 year professional relationship with Michael Ballhaus, ASC, evolved into a lifelong friendship and mentorship.

“For me, there’s nothing that can compare with getting lost when you’re shooting, whether it’s in the shot or on the road. It’s indescribable, it’s often breathtaking, and it’s what I crave.”

Solo exhibit H2O (Charleston); group exhibits DRIFTWOOD (New York), MOMENTS IN TIME (New York), and IN THE NIGHT (Sanibel). Published work includes The Post And Courier (Charleston) and One Life: Stories Told Through Photography.
